Teacher feedback and new 2018 activities - we’ve listened

Magdalen ran a teacher feedback survey in February - many thanks to all of you who responded. It was good to hear your views on everything from our food to our website user experience.

Here’s a little more detail about what you said, and the actions we’ve taken.

Magdalen’s food

We’ve always offered home cooked food using organic or local produce - and 70% of you thought that was an important part of your visit. In fact nearly 10% of you wouldn’t come here without it. 56% thought that offering a choice of evening meal would also be important - and that’s something we’ve already put in place for residential stay groups.

Read more about our food options here: New seasonal menu choices

We would also like to invite any schools to join Magdalen for the "Increditble Edible" Harvest Festival on either 25th, 26th or 28th September here on our farm. Full details here: Incredible Edible day

Activities

65% of you felt it important that our activities are linked to the curriculum. There was a noticeable request for more science based topics/themes. You also want a good variety of fun activities that can be adapted to the weather conditions. There was little doubt as to how important fun and variety is to you with 73% voting it as important and 27% saying you wouldn’t book here without it.

There’s always been much to enjoy about a Magdalen visit with an abundance of outdoor activities, and we’ve recently added a new outdoor adventure playground - see more here: A brand new playground at Magdalen

60% of you felt that the ability to visit our farm animals was important activity. We are now rearing our own chickens, have introduced meat chickens and expanded our goat herd.

Use of our buildings and facilities

Schools enjoy having the sole use of the buildings available. 57% thought that was important and 18% told us you wouldn’t book without it.

52% of you rated our changing facilities for disabled visitors (our facilities are rated as Mencap Gold standard) as an important feature. Magdalen’s enclosed environment and safety was also felt to be important by a number of you.

Our website and awareness of our services

You told us that you liked our website and felt that the information was just about right.

However, many of you didn’t know we also offer inset training for teaching staff, team building for adult groups - and that you can visit Magdalen at the weekends and school holidays for self catering breaks.
