What makes a great eco-friendly holiday?

What makes a great eco-friendly holiday?

Albert Einstein once said “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.” We couldn’t agree more.

An eco holiday allows us to reconnect with a way of living that’s as good for the environment as it is for our longer term well-being. It’s time spent away from our busy lives topping up the sense of well-being we all need.

At Magdalen we have the ‘best of both worlds’ for you to do this:

  • A chance to stay with us and get back to nature with a wooded area, walks and space to play right here on the farm. Our farmhouse can accommodate up to 18 people - and contains many features of sustainable living.
  • If you want to adventure further afield, there’s the nearby natural attractions of the Jurassic Coast with seaside visits, kayaking opportunities and scenic walks.

A calm and natural environment

Being an organic farm near to the River Axe in Somerset, Magdalen is the perfect place to enjoy an eco-friendly holiday in a stunning natural environment.

There’s plenty to do and see on the farm itself with our environmentally friendly forest garden, sustainability walk, organic growing areas, woodlands and tranquil river setting. You’ll also see a number of features promoting eco-friendly living and connecting you with nature.

Conservation activities

What’s more, depending on your group size and availability we offer opportunities to take part in conservation activities on the farm and learn new skills - many of which are based on traditional rural crafts.

Nearby natural attractions

We are based near the River Axe, not far from the borders of Somerset and Dorset, near Chard. That also puts us a convenient 10 miles from Lyme Regis and the scenic attractions of the Jurassic Coast.

While there’s plenty to do on the farm, it’s a convenient base to explore the many natural attractions of the surrounding area.

There’s plenty to enjoy at nearby Lyme Regis with its beaches, walks and spectacular natural features. Find out more at http://www.lymeregis.org

Likewise, the nearby seaside village of Charmouth remains remarkably unspoilt by tourism and offers much in the way of walks and friendly, relaxed hospitality. Find out more at http://www.charmouth.org
